What's new

Updates to Grove β€” what's launched, what's improved, what's coming next.

April 2026New tools

The research loop closes

This release is about closing the gap between research input and research output. You can now bring any document into Grove and get structured insights back in minutes β€” and then take those insights directly into a conversation with the archetype they belong to, using a discussion guide you already wrote.

πŸ“„Upload ResearchNew

Bring your own research into Grove β€” PDFs, transcripts, survey exports, or any public URL. Grove extracts structured insights and sends them straight to your review queue. Nothing is ever stored; files are processed in memory and discarded immediately.

  • Β·Upload a PDF, paste raw text, or enter a URL β€” all three routes produce the same structured output
  • Β·Each document gets a name, date, and type (transcript, report, survey, usability study, and more)
  • Β·Insights are tagged to a specific archetype and go directly into the review inbox
  • Β·Processing runs in the background β€” you get redirected when it's done, not left waiting at a spinner
πŸ’¬Synthetic Interviews β€” sessions, citations, and the guide funnelUpdated

Interviews now persist. Every conversation is saved as a named session β€” leave the tab, come back later, and continue exactly where you left off. And for the first time, you can see which research is behind each response.

  • Β·Sessions saved automatically β€” resume any conversation from the interview hub
  • Β·Rename sessions to track what you were exploring
  • Β·Each AI response shows a collapsible source panel listing the exact insights it drew on, with the originating document
  • Β·Complete funnel: Challenger β†’ Discussion Guide β†’ Synthetic Interview β€” questions from your guide appear as ready-to-use prompts in the interview
  • Β·Interviews no longer require a pre-built persona β€” any archetype with enough accepted insights can be interviewed directly
πŸ—ΊοΈJourney Map β€” generated from your researchUpdated

Journey maps are now generated on demand from your accepted insights β€” no manual input required. Once an archetype reaches 10 insights, a map can be generated at any time.

  • Β·Generation runs in the background β€” the page updates when it's ready, no timeout risk
  • Β·Maps reflect the specific insights in your knowledge base, not a generic template
  • Β·All layers expanded by default β€” collapse to focus, re-expand to explore
  • Β·Regenerate at any time as new research comes in
🌿Dashboard and navigationUpdated
  • Β·Onboarding checklist guides new users through the three steps needed to unlock all tools
  • Β·Progress bar on locked tools shows how many insights are needed to activate them
  • Β·Nav badge shows pending insight count β€” updates live as you review and across page navigations
  • Β·Upload Research added as a standalone tool card on the dashboard

On traceability. The source citation feature in interviews is the most important thing in this release. An AI response is only as useful as your ability to interrogate it. Now you can see exactly which piece of research produced each opinion β€” and decide whether you trust it.

April 2026Platform

Grove β€” a new name, a new home

The platform has a new name: Grove. Same tools, same knowledge base β€” cleaner identity, its own domain, and a foundation built for more than one team. The rebrand comes alongside a set of infrastructure and UX improvements that make the platform feel more like a product.

🌿Rebrand to GroveLive
  • Β·New name, logo, and design system β€” Fraunces serif headings, sage-green palette, Inter body text
  • Β·Now live at usergrove.com with a Grove-branded login page
  • Β·Homepage fully rewritten to explain what Grove does and why it works differently from black-box persona tools
🏒WorkspacesLive

Grove supports multiple independent workspaces. Every team's archetypes, insights, personas, and journey maps are fully isolated β€” one team's knowledge base is never visible to another.

  • Β·New users get a private workspace on sign-up β€” no manual setup required
  • Β·Workspace name shown in the nav so it's always clear which context you're in
  • Β·Pro teams can share a connected workspace across members
πŸ’¬FeedbackLive
  • Β·Quick open-text feedback form below the tool cards on the dashboard
  • Β·Submissions go directly to the Grove team
  • Β·Beta badge in the header β€” if something feels off, that's the place to say so

On the name. A grove is a living ecosystem β€” every piece of research becomes nutrients in the soil. The archetypes are the trees: they don't appear fully formed, they grow slowly and deliberately as insights accumulate around them. That's the idea the name is meant to hold.

April 2026New tools

Challenger, Archetype Hub, and the knowledge loop

Three capabilities that work together: stress-test a hypothesis with real-world evidence, let the results automatically enrich your archetype knowledge base, and chain research directly into your next discussion guide. The goal is a traceable line from question to evidence to insight to archetype.

⚑ChallengerLive

Enter a hypothesis and Challenger searches the web across five dimensions β€” supporting evidence, contradicting evidence, audience signals, behavioural patterns, and market signals β€” then returns a structured verdict with source citations.

  • Β·Verdict: Supported / Rejected / Nuanced β€” with a confidence level and an alternative framing when warranted
  • Β·Runs as a background job β€” navigate away while it works, check back when it's done
  • Β·Each finding is linked to a real source β€” no hallucinated citations
  • Β·Chain directly into a Discussion Guide: one click pre-fills objective, assumptions, and open questions from the report
🧬Archetype HubLive

A dedicated home for your user archetypes. Each archetype has an editable definition and a knowledge base that grows automatically every time a Challenger run or research upload completes.

  • Β·After each research run, insights are automatically extracted and mapped to the relevant archetype
  • Β·You review each insight β€” accept to add it to the knowledge base, reject to discard
  • Β·Accepted insights are categorised (Behavioral, Attitude, Pain point, Goal, Market signal) and linked back to their source
  • Β·Add new archetypes at any time β€” they're picked up by the next research run automatically
πŸ“Discussion GuideLive
  • Β·Multi-archetype selection β€” target multiple archetypes in a single guide when the research spans more than one
  • Β·Pre-fill from Challenger β€” objective, assumptions, and open questions are populated automatically from the report
  • Β·Provenance chip β€” guides created from Challenger research show a link back to the originating report
  • Β·Start a synthetic interview directly from a guide β€” your questions are pre-loaded as prompts

On provenance. Every insight in the Archetype Hub can be traced back to the source it came from β€” the document, the Challenger hypothesis, or the section of the report it appeared in. Knowledge that can't be traced shouldn't be trusted.

March 2026Launch

First release

Built to close the gap between having research questions and being able to act on them. Instead of waiting weeks to schedule studies, you can start exploring user perspectives today β€” grounded in real research, not generic AI output.

πŸ“Discussion GuideLive

Turn a research question into a structured interview guide in under a minute. Fill in four fields β€” your objective, the archetype you're targeting, what you're assuming, and what you don't know β€” and get a ready-to-use script with warm-up questions, probes, and a wrap-up.

  • Β·Guides save automatically β€” pick up where you left off
  • Β·Regenerate anytime after editing the brief
  • Β·Output in English or German
πŸ’¬Synthetic InterviewLive

Have a conversation with an AI persona built from real research. Ask exploratory questions, test assumptions, or probe for reactions β€” and get responses that reflect genuine archetype behaviour, not generic AI answers.

  • Β·Switch between English and German mid-session
  • Β·The persona stays on topic β€” off-topic questions get redirected naturally
  • Β·Responses improve as more research is added to the knowledge base
πŸ—ΊοΈJourney MapLive

Explore what each archetype is trying to get done at each stage of their journey. Dig into goals, frustrations, risks, and decision forks β€” one layer at a time, at your own pace.

  • Β·Open and close layers independently β€” no information overload
  • Β·Expand all or collapse all per stage

A note on AI output. Everything Grove generates is a starting point, not a final answer. The tools are designed to help you think faster β€” not to replace the judgment you bring as a researcher. Always review outputs critically before acting on them or sharing them with others.
